Men's Soccer Falls in Hard-Fought Overtime Battle with Gators

Oct.9- HIRAM, Ohio- Despite tying the game with a second-half goal, the Hiram College men's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime against Allegheny, Tuesday afternoon.  
 
The game-deciding goal came in the 96th minute from Allegheny's Owen Harkins, cementing the Gators 2-1 victory.  
 
Only two goals were scored in regulation time, with each side netting one apiece to force the overtime frame. 
 
The Gators struck first tallying their first goal in the opening 10 minutes of the game.  
 
The rest of the half was a silent one with each side trading shots.  
 
The scoring action resumed in the 56th minute with Taje Davis knocking a penalty shot past the Allegheny goalkeeper. The lone Terrier goal from Davis marked as his first of the season.  
 
The Gators held a slight 14-10 advantage in shots, but each side tallied 7 corner kicks.  
 
Offensively, three Hiram players posted a multi-shot performance with Saint Roger Bountsebe leading the group with three, while Davis and Austin Blatt each had two.  
 
Hiram will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 13 as the team takes to the road to compete against Kenyon College.
