HIRAM, Ohio — October 28, 2026 — Hiram College men's soccer secured a spot in the Presidents' Athletic Conference postseason tournament with a 1-0 victory over Westminster on Wednesday evening at Henry Field, closing out the regular season on a high note.Â
Entering Wednesday's contest, the Terriers needed a win combined with a Washington & Jefferson loss or draw and/or a Saint Vincent loss or draw to clinch a postseason berth. With Chatham defeating Washington & Jefferson, 2-1, and Hiram taking care of business against Westminster, the Terriers secured their first playoff appearance since 2012.Â
Isaac Rogenthien put Hiram ahead for good in the fifth minute, aggressively attacking the Titan's backline before creating space just outside the box and firing a shot into the net to give the Terriers an early 1-0 advantage.Â
Carmine Boscarello created the Terrier's next best scoring opportunity after receiving a beautiful cross that set him up for a quality look on goal. Boscarello fired a shot on target, but the Westminster goalkeeper came up with an impressive save to keep the deficit at one.
Hiram's offense maintained pressure throughout the contest, finishing with 22 shots, including seven on target. However, the Terrier's defensive effort proved equally crucial in securing the victory. Westminster recorded just eight shots, with five finding the target, but goalkeeper Derek Ufholz turned away all five attempts to preserve the shutout.Â
Rogenthien led the way offensively with his game-winning goal and two shots on target. Boscarello also made his presence felt as usual, recording five shots, including two on goal.Â
With Saint Vincent drawing with Thiel tonight, Hiram earns the rights to the #5 seed an will travel to Franciscan on Saturday, October 31, for the opening round of the PAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.Â
