HIRAM, Ohio – October 31, 2026 – Hiram College men's soccer made its first postseason appearance since 2012 on Saturday night as the Terriers traveled to Steubenville, Ohio, to take on Franciscan University. Hiram battled the Barons throughout the contest but ultimately fell, 3-1.
Hiram appeared to control much of the possession in the first half, outshooting its opponent 9-7 while generating several early scoring opportunities, including shots on target from Reginal Johnson. Both teams created chances, but neither could find the back of the net as the contest remained scoreless at halftime.
Franciscan quickly broke the deadlock in the second half, as Andrew Goduti found the back of the net in the 51st and 56th minutes to give the Barons a 2-0 advantage. Franciscan later added a third goal on a penalty kick to extend its lead to 3-0.
The Terriers continued to apply offensive pressure and finally broke through in the 74th minute. Jimmy Zeilmann delivered a throw-in into the middle of the box, where the ball found its way to Ethan Garner, who finished the opportunity to put Hiram on the scoreboard.
Johnson led the Terriers offensively with six shots, including three on target, while Carmine Boscarello added two shots on goal. Hiram also showcased its offensive depth, with 10 different student-athletes recording at least one shot.
Hiram closes the season with its highest win total since 2012, marking a significant step forward for the program. While the Terriers will graduate 13 seniors, including key contributors Simon Schonfeld, Liam O'Brien, Taeven Genovese, and Zeilmann, among others, the program will look to build on this season's success with an extremely talented group of returning underclassmen heading into the 2027 campaign.
