Men's Soccer Falls to Wittenberg in 2018 Finale

October 27 – SPRINGFIELD, Ohio- The Hiram College men's soccer team played their last game of the 2018 season, falling 4-1 in a matchup against Wittenberg on Saturday night.  

The Terriers were the first to strike when sophomore Giovanni Meza shot past the Tigers' keeper in the nineteenth minute of play.  

Despite being outshot 9-3 in the initial half, Hiram led 1-0.  

The second was a busy one, with the Tigers producing all five of their goals.

After the break Wittenberg's Alberto Zaragoza tied up the score 1-1 off an assist by Kevin Helt in the 47th minute. 

Minutes later Zaragoza added to his damage tallying the host second goal of the game.  

Looking to cement their lead, Wittenberg tallied three more goals in the remaining minutes to secure their 5-1 victory. 

In goal, freshman Shelby Edwards made his fifth start of the season finishing the night with five saves.  

The Terriers finished the season 1-9 in the North Coast Athletic Conference claiming a 2-1 victory earlier in the season over Oberlin. With the win, Wittenberg moved to 3-6-1 in conference.
