TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Hiram College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie at Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers stand at 2-1-2 on the season, while the Student Princes are 1-2-2.
Heidelberg opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Isaac Bwayo was able to sneak a goal past Hiram senior goalie Matt Sacher (Akron, Ohio/Coventry).
The Terriers responded just minutes later, wen senior Tanner Mathews (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) took a pass from senior Richie Webb (London, England/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) and beat the keeper at the 26:37 mark.
Hiram had a few chances in the second overtime session, getting two shots from Webb and a corner kick wach from Webb and Mathews all in the final five minutes.
Sacher made one save in one half of action and junior Chris Lindemeyer (Lodi, Ohio/Cloverleaf) made four saves in the second half and overtime.
Both teams fired 11 shots in the contest and the Terriers held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
Hiram will continue its road trip on Wednesday, when it takes on Mt. Aloysius (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m.
