HIRAM, Ohio -- Sophomore Blake Easterling (Barberton, Ohio) scored his second goal of the season, but the Hiram College men's soccer team fell to No. 7-ranked Kenyon 4-1 on Tuesday evening.
The Terriers drop to 6-7-2 on the season and 2-4-0 in conference play, while the Lords improve to 12-1, 5-1-0.
Hiram appeared to take the lead in the 35th minute. Junior Vaal Ngalla (Pickerington, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) was able to control a loose ball. He sent a cross towards the goal that junior Zac Cairns (North Olmsted, Ohio/St. Edward) was able to shoot with his back heel into the net. The goal was waived off by the referee due to the Terriers being offside.
Kenyon would get a goal late in the first half. The Lords were able to get the ball deep in the box and after a flurry of shots, David Anderson was able to score from about 15 yards out to make the score 1-0.
The Lords would add another goal early in the second half, when Jordan Glassman converted on a cross from Tony Amolo.
The Terriers would get one back at the 60:23 mark on Easterling's goal. Junior Jake Pastore (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) sent a long pass off of a restart. Easterling was able to slip behind his defender and beat the goalie on a breakaway for his second goal of the season.
The Lords would add a iin the 70th minute and tacked on another in the 80th for the 4-1 victory.
Senior Matt Sacher (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) was made 10 saves in goal for Hiram and drops to 4-5-0 on the season.
Kenyon held a 24-7 edge in shots and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Hiram will return to action on Saturday, when they host Wittenberg on Senior Night. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
