MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Senior Richie Webb (London, England/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) scored his fourth goal of the season, but the Hiram College men's soccer team fell at Allegheny (Pa.) on Wednesday evening by a 2-1 score.
The Terriers fall to 5-6-2 on the season and 1-3-0 in the NCAC, while the Gators improve to 4-6-2 and remain unbeaten in NCAC play at 3-0-1.
Webb's four goals are now second most on the squad this season. In addition, the goal gives him 12 points, which is tied for the team lead.
Allegheny struck for two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Tolossa Hassan converted on a cross 12:24 into the match and then Jacob Lesak was able to score in the closing moments of the first half.
The Terriers looked to answer in the second half and pulled to within one on Webb's goal at the 82:28 mark. Sophomore Blake Easterling (Barberton, Ohio) recorded the assist on the play.
But Hiram was unable to get off any more shots the rest of the contest.
Senior Matt Sacher (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) made one stop in goal in the first half and junior Chris Lindemeyer (Lodi, Ohio/Cloverleaf) recorded a clean slate in the second half.
Hiram held a 10-6 edge in shots and a 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.
The Terriers will play next on Saturday, when they return home to take on Wabash (Ind.) at 5 p.m. as part of Homecoming festivities on campus all weekend.
