HIRAM, OHIO -- The No. 16-ranked Hiram College men's soccer team fell in its NCAC opener to DePauw (Ind.) by a 1-0 score on Saturday evening at Henry Field.
The Terriers drop to 5-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the NCAC, while the Tigers improve to 5-3-0, 1-0-0.
Midway through the first half, senior Andy Harding (Akron/Revere) would battle for a loose ball and control it down the right side. He sent a cross in front of the goal that was just out of the reach of senior Ryan Kramarz (Chesterland/West Geauga).
Harding finished the game with a team-high three shots.
DePauw would strike for the lone goal of the match in the 71st minute, when Jonathan Wheeler found the back of the net off of a cross.
Junior goalkeeper Matt Sacher (Akron/Coventry) made five saves on the night and drops to 4-3-0 on the season.
The Tigers finished with 12 shots, six of which were on goal, while Hiram took four shots, with none of them being on goal.
DePauw also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Terriers will play again on Wednesday night, when it welcomes John Carroll to Henry Field for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
