Men's Soccer Shuts Out Wooster

Box Score

WOOSTER, OHIO  --  The Hiram College men's soccer team recorded a goal in each half to shut out The College of Wooster, 2-0, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Wooster.

Hiram (14-2-1, 5-2-1 NCAC) needed just 2:24 to get on the scoreboard when senior All-Region midfielder Ryan Greenhill (Solon) scored the game's first goal with an assist from senior All-Region forward Ryan Minick (North Royalton).  The lone goal was all the scoring in the first half as the Terriers led Wooster (4-11-1, 1-6-1 NCAC) by a point at halftime.

In the second half, the lead remained one for Hiram until the 75th minute when junior midfielder Andy Harding (Bath/Revere) recorded his team-leading 13th goal of the season to pad the lead to 2-0 late in the game.  Minick posted his second assist of the contest setting up Harding to give the Terriers the two-goal advantage.  The two scores turned out to be all Hiram needed as the Terriers kept the Fighting Scots scoreless en route to the 2-0 shutout.

Freshman goalkeeper Kirby Rice (Copley) claimed his third win of the season (3-0 overall) and third shutout of the season, playing all 90 minutes.  He did not face any shots on goal by Wooster for no saves.

Hiram will wrap-up the 2012 regular-season on Saturday, Oct. 27 when the Terriers travel to North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind.  The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
