Men's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Ohio Wesleyan University

DELAWARE, OHIO – The Hiram College men's soccer team lost to Ohio Wesleyan University, 3-1, tonight (Friday, Sept. 30) in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Delware, Ohio.

Following tonight's game, the Terriers are now 5-2-1 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC. The Battling Bishops improve to 9-1 overall and 1-0 NCAC.

OWU scored the only goal of the first period and found the net just 7:36 into the game to lead 1-0 at the intermission.

The Bishops took control of the game with two more scores in the second half during the 55th and 62nd minute to increase the lead to 3-0. Hiram ended the possible shutout with an unassisted goal by junior midfielder Ty Smith (Rocky River/St. Ignatius) at the 84:09 minute mark to make the score 3-1. The Terriers would not score any more goals in the final minutes as the Bishops went to capture the 3-1 victory.

Junior Joe Rottinger (Strongsville) played all 90 minutes, but got the loss and is now 5-2-1 overall for the season. He allowed three goals and made eight saves.

Hiram is scheduled to host Case on Wednesday, Oct. 5 in a non-conference game at the Hiram Soccer Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
