HIRAM, OHIO – The Hiram College men's soccer team recorded its first North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 4-1 win against Wittenberg University today (Saturday, Oct. 8) at the Charles A. Henry Field.

With the win, the Terriers improve to 6-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC. The Tigers fall to 5-6-1 overall and 1-2 NCAC.

Hiram scored the first two goals of the game beginning with a score by junior All-NCAC forward Ryan Minick (North Royalton) just 3:25 into the game to give the Terriers an early 1-0 lead. Junior forwrad Taylor Kiefer (North Canton/Hoover) tallied Hiram's second goal during the 15th minute to increase the margin to 2-0. Wittenberg answered shortly after with a goal of its own at the 17:30 mark with an unassisted score by Brian Boutin to cut the deficit to 2-1. Hiram made it a two-goal game again near the end of the period with a goal by freshman forward Kamron Patterson (Brecksville) at the 34:06 mark giving the Terriers a 3-1 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, the Terriers secured the victory as Patterson found the back of the net for the second time late in the half during the 83rd minute with an assist from sophomore midfielder Andy Harding (Bath/Revere). The goal was the only points of the second period as the Terriers would come away with a 4-1 victory.

Junior Joe Rottinger (Strongsville) picked up his sixth win of the season and is now 6-3-1 overall. He played all 90 minutes allowing just the lone goal and made four saves.

Hiram will host Kenyon College on Wednesday, Oct. 12 in a NCAC contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
