HIRAM, OHIO – Junior All-North Coast Athletic Conference midfielder Ryan Greenhill (Solon) scored the go ahead, and game-winning, goal late in the second period as the Hiram College men's soccer team defeated Kenyon College, 2-1, tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 12) in a conference matchup at Charles A. Henry Field.

With the win, the Terriers improve to 7-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC. The Lords fall to 5-7-1 overall and 2-3 NCAC.

The game looked to be headed to halftime with both teams scoreless until junior Hiram defenseman Daniel O'Callaghan (Aberdare, Wales, United Kingdom) got the ball past the Kenyon goalkeeper on a header off of a free kick by senior defenseman Tyler Launder (Whitehouse/Anthony Wayne) at the 39:33 minute mark to give the Terriers a 1-0 edge.

In the second half, the Lords tied the game at a goal apiece early in the period with an unassisted score by Edgar Arceo during the 52nd minute making the score 1-1. Hiram broke the tie under the 10-minute mark left to go in the game when Greenhill recorded his first goal of the season, putting Hiram up by the score, 2-1. Kenyon could not score the equilizer in the final minutes as the Terriers went on to claim the 2-1 victory.

In goal for Hiram, junior Joe Rottinger (Strongsville) played all 90 minutes to earn his seventh win of the season and improves to 7-3-1 overall. He allowed the lone goal and made five saves.

Hiram will play its next two games on the road, beginning with a NCAC game against Oberlin College on Saturday, Oct. 15 in Oberlin. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
