Smotek Takes Home PAC Honors In Week One

Sophomore Tallies 79 Kills In 4-1 Week

HIRAM, Ohio - September 7, 2026 - Hiram outside hitter Sofia Smotek was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, marking her first "Player of the Week" award this season. The sophomore from Independence, OH earned multiple PAC awards last year as a freshman. Now in her second year with the program, Smotek is continuing her dominance from last season. 

Smotek recorded 79 kills, 43 digs, and five service aces over the course of the Terriers 4-1 week that included three-set wins over Oberlin, Adrian, and Kalamazoo and a five-set win over Heidelberg.  

Smotek's 79 kills currently leads the PAC through Week 1. The Independence, OH native posted her first double-double of the season with 21 kills and 10 digs in the win over Heidelberg. She followed that act with her second double-double in a win over Kalamazoo (17 kills and 11 digs) to wrap up the Great Lakes Crossover,  

With 486 kills through only 34 career games, Smotek is closing in on the 500-kill mark.  

The Terriers continue play this week, traveling to Marietta College on Tuesday to take on the Pioneers followed by the CWRU Quad tournament this Friday and Saturday at Case Western Reserve University.
