Hiram Track & Field Has Great Showing At PAC Outdoor Championships

Terriers Have Many Personal Bests At PAC Championships

Morgantown, West Virginia - May 1 2026- The Hiram Terrier track & field team traveled to Morgantown, West Virginia on the campus of West Virginia University for the PAC Outdoor Championships on Thursday and Friday afternoon, marking the program's first conference-wide competition during the outdoor season since returning to the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Terriers fought hard in the two-day event, earning sixth place overall team finishes on both the men's and women's side.

Day 1 Recap

For Hiram, Day 1 started with a bang, with six Terriers finishing in the top-10 for their respective events. Hiram had five athletes score in their events, providing an early boost for the Terriers in what shaped out to be a strong showing in the field events.

Hiram was led by Sam Volpe, who finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.68 m. Chloe Cooper also had a great day in the hammer throw, finishing fourth with a mark of 40.72 m. In the women's javelin throw, Kylie Moser finished fifth in that event, throwing a mark of 35.95 m. In the women's triple jump, Kelsey Downs would also score for Hiram, finishing eighth with a mark of 9.83 m.

On the track side, the day for Hiram was started off with Sebastian Regalado and Maurice Wadesisi, who both qualified for the 110-meter hurdle finals, with Regalado finishing with a time of 15.57 and Wadesisi finishing with a time of 16.63. Trezure Bates and Makyndree Smith would also qualify, with Bates running a time of 15.24 and Smith running a time of 15.96 in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the women's 10,000-meter race, Elaine Guyette posted a new personal best by over a minute in that event, finishing ninth with an impressive time of 41:14.22.

Day 2 Recap

The Terriers would start their second day out in the field, with Christian Berish and Kenta Poole placing fifth and eighth in the hammer throw, with Berish setting a new personal best mark of 40.36 m and Poole finishing with a mark of 38.40 m. Poole and Berish would also score in other events, with Poole finishing with a mark of 13.14 m for a sixth-place finish in the shot put and Berish, along with Kaden Duke, would finish seventh and sixth in the discus. Berish would finish with a mark of 37.18 m and Duke would finish with a mark of 37.35 m.

In the women's long jump, Juliana Gunn placed fourth, jumping a mark of 5.11 m. On the men's side, Tucker Marmash won the long jump, jumping a mark of 6.83 m to win the senior's first conference title and an all-conference selection. In the women's shot put, Sam Volpe returned to action, winning that event in new personal best fashion with a program-record mark of 12.87 m. Rylie Petroff would also stand out in the shot put, placing sixth with a mark of 11.08 m. In the women's high jump, Karalyn Rutkowski finished third, clearing a mark of 1.57 m for the senior.

On the track side, the Terriers picked up huge points in both hurdle finals, with Regalado placing second with a time of 15.89, and Waudesisi placing eighth with a time of 16.87 in the 110 hurdles. Trezure Bates and Makyndree Smith would finish second and third in the 100 hurdles, with Bates finishing with a time of 15.30 and Smith finishing with a time of 15.78.

In the men's 400-meter run, Nathan Feltner would improve on his school record, running a new personal best of 48.07 in that event, which was good enough for a second-place finish. In the men's 800, freshman Aidan Shiels won the event, running a time of 1:54.47. This marks the second consecutive PAC Championship for Shiels, as his outstanding freshman year continues to have impressive accolades.

Shiels and Feltner would also be joined by Kamran Walton and DeAco Curry as part of the 4x400 meter relay team later on, where they would finish third with a time of 3:22.45.

What's Next

Hiram will now travel to Baldwin Wallace University next Thursday and Friday for the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet in Berea, OH.
