Hiram Track & Field Has Outstanding Results In Two-Day Meet At Baldwin Wallace

Men Finish 7th, Women Finish 6th In Very Competitive Field

BEREA, Ohio – April 18, 2026- The Hiram Terrier track & field team traveled to Berea, OH on Friday and Saturday afternoon, competing in the Sparky Adams Invite hosted by Baldwin Wallace University. The Terriers have continued their impressive results this outdoor season, as the men finished in seventh place as a team, and the women's team placed sixth in an outstanding performance at a two-day meet that included nearly 20 teams for both the men and women.

Day 1 Recap 

The Terriers opened the first day of competition in the field events, when Sam Volpe continued to impress, breaking her own school record in the hammer throw, with a mark of 44.89 m and a fifth-place finish. Volpe then continued in the shot put, where she placed third, throwing a mark of 12.43 m. 

In the women's high jump, Karalyn Rutkowski had an outstanding day, clearing a mark of 1.65 m in that event, which placed third. Hiram then shifted to the women's long jump, where Juliana Gunn would jump a mark of 5.25 m, which was good enough to win that event in an impressive fashion.

In the men's long jump, Tucker Marmash continued to impress in his senior season, finishing fourth with a mark of 6.96 m. The Terriers ended the first day of action in the triple jump, where Daylin Wood finished with a mark of 11.41 m.

Day 2 Recap 

Hiram began all their running events on the second day. Hiram started its day in the 100 and 110 hurdle prelims, where Makyndree Smith and Sebastian Regalado both qualified for the finals. Smith eventually placed sixth in the finals, running a time of 15.62. Regalado placed third, securing huge points for Hiram, running a time of 15.50.  

In the men's 4x100 relay, the team of Dre Nelson, Kevin Dycks, Jacob Brown and Nathan Feltner finished third with a time of 42.33, which set a new school record in that event, beating out a 56-year-old record set in 1970.

Feltner and Dycksfollowed up that performance with a great 200 meter race. Feltner finished second with a time of 22.37, and Dycks finished seventh with a time of 22.73.

The Terriers extended the success in the 800 meters, where Abby Guyette ran a very impressive race in that event, finishing with a time of 2:26.36. On the men's side, Aidan Shiels and DeAco Curry once again finished in first and second place, with Shiels finishing with a time of 1:53.60 and Curry finishing with a time of 1:54.39 in an outstanding performance that earned the team a combined 18 points. 

In the women's 400 hurdles, Trezure Bates had an outstanding race, finishing with a time of 1:09.51, which was good enough for a fourth-place finish.  

The Terriers ended their day in the 4x400 relay, where the women's team finished fourth with a time of 4:15.13, and the men's team won the event, finishing with a time of 3:21.50.  

What's Next 

The Terriers will be back in action next Wednesday, when they travel to Mount Union for the Mount Union Tuneup ahead of the PAC Championships at the end of April.
