HIRAM, Ohio - February 24, 2026 - The versatility of Derek Chiang has been on full display over the last two weeks, as the senior from Markham, Ontario was named PAC Defensive Player of the Week just one week after being named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week. The Presidents' Athletic Conference made the news official on Tuesday late afternoon.
Â
Chiang totaled four total blocks in a three-set win over Geneva this past Wednesday before adding a career-high eight total blocks in a five-set victory over Chatham on Saturday. The outside hitter also had 12 digs between the two matches, showcasing his defensive abilities in a manner that propelled Hiram to the top of the PAC standings in the early stages of the season.
Â
While the award was for Chiang's defensive performance, he also tallied 28 kills (12 and 16) over the two matches. He is currently leading the Terriers with 87 kills this season, which also ranks eighth in the entire PAC.
Â
Chiang and the rest of the Terriers will return to the court on Wednesday for a conference matchup with Saint Vincent at 7 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
