Hiram Competes Very Well In Weekend Meets At Oberlin And Otterbein

Hiram Track And Field Returns To Action With 2 Meets

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – February 14, 2026 –The Hiram track and field team had a busy weekend, with two meets, first at Oberlin College on Friday night for the annual Crimson & Gold Invite and on Saturday for the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein. The Terriers competed hard in both meets, resulting in multiple new personal records as part of a very successful weekend.

At the Crimson and Gold Invite:

On the men's side, the Terriers had many successful finishes, with Kenta Poole finishing in second place in the shot put with a mark of 12.58m. Poole followed up his second-place performance with a fourth-place finish in the weight throw, throwing a mark of 13.16m in that event. On the track side, the Terriers had a fourth and fifth place finish in the 200m dash, with Connor Green finishing fourth with a time of 24.55 and Dre Nelson finishing in fifth place with a time of 24.58 seconds.

On the women's side, the Terriers also found their midseason form, with Sam Volpe winning the weight throw with a mark of 14.05m. Right behind Volpe was Kayla Mack, who finished with a mark of 13.62 m in the weight throw. Mack continued to have success by finding the top of the leaderboard in the shot put, finishing with a mark of 10.60m. On the track, MacKenzie Norton finished in second place in the mile with a time of 5:55.05.

At the All-Ohio Championships:

On the women's side, Elaine Guyette started the day with a 10th place finish in the 5K, running a time just under 20 minutes at 19:57. The Terriers success continued on the track with Kylie Moser, who ran a time of 2:27.58 in the 800-meter run. Moser followed the 800m performance with a 10.72 mark in the shot put. Moser's teammate, Sam Volpe, finished fourth in the whole event, throwing a mark out 12.58m. Finally, winning the high jump was Karalyn Rutkowski, as the senior cleared a mark of 1.63m to earn an impressive victory.

On the men's side, the Terriers had many successful times, with Kevin Dycks qualifying for the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.04, which was good enough to win his heat. Dycks followed it up with another great performance in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 23.35. In the 400m dash, Kamran Walton won his heat with a time of 52.38. Walton also was a part of the 4x400-meter relay team that included Kyle Filkill, DeAco Curr, and Aidan Shiels, which collectively ran a time of 3:33.13. in the field, Tucker Marmash finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.70m.

The Terriers will be back in action next weekend, when they head to Mount Union on Friday and Westminster on Saturday for another pair of meets.
