BEREA, Ohio – January 30, 2026 – The Hiram track & field team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday afternoon for the Taraschke Team Challenge. It was an outstanding day for the Terriers to compete, which saw the men's team finish in fifth place and the women's team finishing in fourth place.
On the men's side, there were plenty of notable performances that included a school record on the track. In the 55-meter dash finals, Kevin Dycks broke a 30-year-old record set by Wade Hamilton in 1996 (6.71) and ran a time of 6.53 en route to a third-place finish. This is the second record broken by Dycks this season, as he broke the 200-meter indoor record last week.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Sebastian Regalado qualified for the finals, and managed to finish in fourth place with a time of 8.24. In the men's 4x400 meter relay, the team of Kamran Walton, Aidan Shiels, Kyle Filkill and DeAco Curry ran a time of 3:33.53, which netted them a third-place finish.
In the field, Tucker Marmash had a outstanding performance in the long jump, where he jumped a long of 6.43 meters, which was good for second place.
On the women's side, the performances continued, as there were many notable moments. On the field, Sam Volpe continued her winning ways, as Volpe threw for 12.68 meters, which was good enough for first place. Not far behind Volpe was her teammates Angelina Weems (11.35 m) and Kayla Mack (10.99 m), who both took second and third place respectively.
On the track, Frances Popik continued to improve, running a 1:02.59 in the 400-meter dash, which was good enough for a second-place finish. Popik was later a part of the women's 4x400 meter relay team with Mikayla Palmer, Kylie Moser, and McKenzie Riley, who collectively finished second with a time of 4:19.96. Also finishing second in their race was Elaine Guyette, who ran a time of 11:28.15 in the 3000-meter race.
Hiram will return to action with the Dan Kinsey Invite next Friday in Oberlin, OH.
