HIRAM, Ohio - January 26, 2026 - Hiram's Issac Ray was named the PAC Newcomer of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced by the Presidents' Athletic Conference in a release. It marks the fifth time that the Terriers have won the award this season, a testament to the team's exciting young talent and the burst they've made onto the PAC scene in such a short time.
Ray joins Taveon Moss (three times) and Dino Longo as the third Hiram student-athlete to earn the award this season. Moss won the honor on Nov. 24, Jan. 12 and Jan. 19, while Longo took down the honor on Dec. 22. Will Brodbeck also won PAC Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 22.
Ray has emerged as an immediate contributor for the Terriers at the 184-lb weight class, as he most recently picked up a win over Ohio Wesleyan's Andrew Mushkin by technical fall (18-1). The result helped Hiram to a 25-24 tiebreaker win over the Battling Bishops and a second dual victory on the 2025-26 campaign.
For the season, Ray has won four of his nine bouts, which includes multiple wins by technical fall. He also is a member of the Terriers football and men's lacrosse teams.
The Terriers men's wrestling team will return to the mat on Friday, when it takes on Lake Erie College for a dual at 4 p.m. in Painesville, OH.
