HIRAM, Ohio - January 17, 2026 - The Hiram men's and women's swimming teams celebrated senior day in victorious fashion on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Pool, as the men beat Chatham (146-74) and Bluffton (159-23), while the women got the win over Bluffton (112-37) and lost to Chatham (115-78).
Ahead of the three victories, the Terriers honored seniors Owen Pastorius, Jon Hybil, Grace Basham and Becca Johnston for their combined 16 years of dedication across both programs. It was a special moment for the group, who has competed in nine NCAC Championships, set two school records and has combined for countless top-15 times and personal bests.
Men's Recap
The 200-meter medley relay team of David Slovenkay, Hybil, Pastorius and Ethan O'Malley ignited the home crowd to open the festivities by placing first (1:59.42). Pastorius would later win both of his individual events (200-meter freestyle: 2:06.13 | 400-meter freestyle: 4:32.40) to add to his impressive career.
Krosky quickly returned to the pool in the 800-meter freestyle, placing atop the field with a time of 10:11.08. The junior from Brecksville, OH later won the 100-meter butterfly (1:16.01) and 200-meter IM (2:33.50) to cap off one of the best performances of his career in dual meets.
Slovenkay and Hybil did a good job in the sprinting events, winning the 50-meter backstroke (30.73) and 50-meter breaststroke (32.93) to give their team some separation above the other two teams. Shortly thereafter, three more victories ensued in the 100-meter freestyle (Ethan O'Malley, 1:00.48), 100-meter backstroke (Slovenkay, 1:06.98) and 100-meter breaststroke (Hybil, 1:18.33).
Women's Recap
Basham made a strong statement to start her senior day, ranking third in the 200-meter freestyle (2:47.04). The senior from Hubbard, OH also swam the 400-meter freestyle (6:08.73), and competed with the 200-meter medley relay team that included Haven Papineau, Johnston and Mya Libertine (2:35.40).
