ALLIANCE, Ohio – April 13, 2024 – Hiram track & field competed at the Homon Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Kehres Stadium, a men's and women's event that also included Mount Union, Ursuline, Malone and Walsh.
Men's Recap
Jarvis Thompson, who earned All-NCAC Honors in the triple jump during the indoor season, returned to competition and placed second overall in the triple jump (12.95m, 42' 6"). Just before that strong result,
Tucker Marmash finished fifth in the long jump (6.00m, 19' 8¼").
In the discus, freshman
Christian Berish continued his impressive early-season form, placing sixth with a mark of 41.05m (134' 8"). Berish now ranks as one of the top first-year athletes in the event across the entire NCAC.
Some personal records for the day included
Jacob Mancini in the 400-meter dash (54.82) and
Andrew Thompson in the 100-meter dash (11.81).
Women's Recap
Trezure Bates trailed only Mount Union's Elizabeth Mason (15.65) with a clip of 15.68 in the 100-meter hurdles. Bates had a 15.61 in prelims, which was the top time among the nine student-athletes in the event.
Kylie Moser placed second in the javelin (30.44m, 99' 10") and now has the sixth-best mark in the NCAC. Right behind her was
Addison Disman, who placed sixth in that same event (29.06m, 95' 4").
Sam Volpe and
Chloe Cooper each made the finals in the shot put, with Cooper posting a season-best mark of 10.23m (33' 6¾").
Victoria Freeman (800-meter, 2:46.36) and
Ranita DiMarco (800-meter, 2:56.93) also had PRs in the track events.
What's Next
The Terriers will travel to the campus of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH for the Sparky Adams Invite next Saturday. A full schedule for the event will be posted as soon as it is made available.
