OBERLIN, Ohio – March 30, 2024 – Both Hiram track & field teams finished up their successful weekend at the Bob Kahn Invitational, as the outdoor season officially commenced for the Terriers for the first time since 2009.
While team scores weren't calculated for the event, Hiram had plenty of individual student-athletes with standout performances throughout the second day.
Men's Recap
Andrew Thompson had the top time on the team in the 100-meter dash (12.25), which placed 21st in the field. Shortly thereafter, Jacob Mancini set a new PR in the 200-meter dash (24.28).
In the discus, Christian Berish made his presence felt with a fourth-place mark of 38.01m. The freshman also competed in the shot put (10.27m).
Dre Nelson, Alexander Viggiano, Jacob Pino, Maclane Roe and Damian Concklin also participated in the sprint and throwing events.
Women's Recap
On the women's side, Trezure Bates (16.57) and Makyndree Smith (17.31) got things going with fourth- and seventh-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles. Bates would later post a 29.03 time in the 200-meter dash and a 2.90m mark in the pole vault.
Sam Volpe shined in the shot put and discus, finishing sixth (10.49m) and fifth (33.03m) between the two events respectively. The first-year student-athlete already holds the program record in the shot put (10.92m), which was set during the indoor season at the Dan Kinsey Invite in February.
Addison Disman wasn't far behind Volpe in the discus throw, placing seventh (32.49m) to round out the best results of the day.

Hiram track & field will next compete on Saturday at the Marv Frye Invitational in Delaware, Ohio.
