HIRAM, Ohio - August 23, 2023 - The Hiram cross country and track & field programs announced their coaching staffs for the upcoming season earlier this month. The 2023-24 academic year marks the first time the Terriers will have cross country teams since 2014 and track & field teams since 2009.

Among the new hires are James "Doc" Landis (throws) and David Bradley (sprints/jumps), who will both serve as assistant coaches for the track & field team. Carly Workman will also serve as an assistant coach for both teams, while Glen Conley (jumps) fills out the track & field staff.

Here's the full list, with head coach Dan Graber leading the way:

  • Dan Graber: Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach

  • Carly Workman: Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach

  • Glen Conley: Assistant Track & Field Coach (Jumps)

  • James "Doc" Landis: Assistant Track & Field Coach (Throws)

  • David Bradley: Assistant Track & Field Coach (Sprints/Jumps)

  • Alec Eldridge: Director of Peak Performance

James "Doc" Landis, M.D., Ph.D. has coached the throws since 2014, notably helping athletes achieve numerous school records, state qualifications and medals. His experience includes a middle school state championship, five high school state championships, a high school All-American and a regional ESPY award winner.

"Coach Landis will be a great benefit to our throws group and our entire track and field program," Graber said. "His commitment to developing positive relationships with student-athletes along with his vast knowledge of throwing event training protocol will help our throws group develop into something special."

Bradley comes to the Terriers after a remarkable career at Wheaton College. He was an All-American in the pole vault in 2022, while also being named a two-time Academic All-American in 2021 and 2022. He also served as a pole vault coach at Wheaton Warrenville South High School and an outdoor track coach at Wheaton College.

"David has competed at the highest level in NCAA D-III and sharing his knowledge and experience with our athletes will be invaluable to our program," Graber said. "He is committed to working hard to help build the program and I couldn't be more excited that he is starting his collegiate coaching career at Hiram."

The cross country team opens its season on Friday, September 1 at the Westminster Fisher Invite, while the indoor track & field team will begin in the winter.
