EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – November 7, 2021 – Hiram women's wrestling competed in their first event in program history participating at the ESU Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University finishing in 13
th place with five points.
Wrestling at 109 lbs.,
Kylee Bentley (1-2) secured a victory over Keira Koehler from Adrian by technical superiority. Bentley fell against Mikayla Vega and Julianne Moccia with both wrestlers from Gannon, as well as Trinity Oredina from Tiffin. Bentley finished in sixth place in her weight class for the event.
Kenedi Keesey (0-2), wrestled at 116 lbs., competing against Carly Gross from Lock Haven and Natalie Dunn from East Stroudsburg. Gross won by fall and Dunn by technical superiority.
Bethany Smith (0-2), wrestling at 130 lbs., was defeated by Emily Klein of East Stroudsburg by technical superiority. In her second bout, she faced off against Bridgette Schoultz of Delaware Valley, as Schoultz won on the same result as Klein in technical superiority.
Katie Vogt-Shields (1-2), took part in three matches over the course of the event wrestling at 155 lbs. and notching Hiram's second win. Vogt-Shields defeated Clara Padua Cruz of Limestone University, winning by fall. Quili Miguel of Adrian bested Vogt-Shields winning by decision and Khadijah Sanusi of Sacred Heart beat the Valley City, Ohio native by technical superiority.
Rounding out the squad wrestling at 170 lbs. was
Kinora Hayes (0-2). Hayes was defeated by two Adrian wrestlers in Aspen Dodge and Sienna Lejeune both by technical superiority.
Hiram next travels to Adrian, Mich. taking part in the Adrian Open on Sunday, Nov. 14 starting at 11 a.m.
