ALBION, Michigan - November 16, 2025 - Hiram women's wrestling placed eighth as a team at the Albion Invite on Sunday, which included five different student-athletes placing in their respective brackets at the event: Lexi Doerflinger (fourth place, 110 lbs), Emrie Fink (sixth place, 145 lbs), Cicely Cullins (fifth place, 160 lbs), Emily Lorenzon (fifth place, 207 lbs) and Nikkiah Smith (seventh place, 207 lbs).

 

The aforementioned wrestlers combined for 13 wins on the day, with four of the wrestlers each having multiple wins throughout the event. Winning the event in terms of the team scores was East Stroudsburg, with Indiana Tech earning a runner-up finish.

 

Doerflinger strung together another strong finish in the early stages of the season, picking up wins over Alma College (dec, 14-6), Trine (fall, 2:21) and East Stroudsburg (technical fall, 12-0). 

 

Fink continued a steady start to her collegiate career, bouncing back from a first-round loss by beating Baldwin Wallace (fall, 1:41), East Stroudsburg (technical fall, 10-0) and John Carroll (decision, 8-4).

 

For Cullins, a packed 160-lb bracket opened the door to plenty of opportunity for victory on Sunday. The first-year from Inwood, WV won a team-high five bouts, which included two wins by fall over Indiana University Club Team (0:13) and Siena Heights (2:51).

 

Also earning places was Lorenzon and Smith, both of whom were in the 207-lb bracket, which will be an exciting weight class to monitor for the Terriers this season. Lorenzon beat Georgetown College twice (decision, 5-3 | fall, 5:21), while Smith earned a victory over East Stroudsburg by fall (0:31), which marked her first win of the year.

 

One week separates Hiram from its next event on Sunday, when it will travel to University Heights, OH for a dual against John Carroll.
