Abriana Schwartz were named 2021 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Tuesday.
"Abriana, Bailey, Giselle, Lisette, and Ryleigh epitomize the true meaning of the term student-athlete," Head Softball Coach
Scott Pohlman said. "They have been able to balance their time in the classroom and on the field as well, and succeed in both."
The NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes recognize the academic prowess of student-athletes and teams across the NFCA's six membership categories. Athletes who achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale are recognized as NFCA Scholar-Athletes.
Bahena and Scheck earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the second time in their career, while Gonzalez, Schwartz and Webb are first-time honorees.
Over 8,800 student-athletes were named 2021 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the highest total in Association history, and the second consecutive year (2018-19) achieving the 8,000-plus plateau.
NCAA Division III led the way with 2,375 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2020-21. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,982 and 1,727 honorees. High School weighted and High School unweighted earned 831 and 679 distinctions. NAIA and two-year programs each amassed 643 and 594 recipients, respectively.
The Terriers' wrapped up their 2021 campaign with a 24-17 (11-1 NCAC) record, the third-most wins in program history, and numerous postseason honors, including five First-Team All-NCAC selections and the NCAC Softball Head Coach of the Year.
