Box Score HIRAM, Ohio – March 4, 2020 - Led by a career day from senior Tayler Hall, the Hiram women's lacrosse team secured a 20-13 victory against Muskingum University, Wednesday night.
The twenty-goal victory marks the most goals scored by the Terriers since their 25-1 win over Waynesburg in 2018.
The Terriers saw seven different players get into the scoring column during the contest, led by a career-high, seven-goal effort from Hall. The senior sits fifth on the North Coast Athletic Conference's leaderboard for goals this season (11) and tied for third in Hiram program history for goals scored in a game.
Freshman Sophia Leuma also had a solid offensive game, with a career-best four goals, placing four of her six shots on goal.
Hiram ran out to a commanding lead through the first three minutes of action scoring the opening three goals of the game. Hall scored back-to-back unassisted goals to open the first. Senior Alexis Hirsch added the other goal in the run.
The Fighting Muskies posted a trio of goals to tie the game 3-3.
From there, the Terriers responded with seven unanswered goals to stretch their lead to 10-3 with 7:16 remaining in the quarter. Freshman Lily Polen, junior Gianna Palmieri, and Hall each posted a pair of goals, and sophomore Cat Lillibridge pitched in one.
Muskingum would add three last goals heading into the break, but Hiram maintained their lead (10-6).
The Terriers would maintain their scoring momentum heading into the second, holding the Fighting Muskies to single digits in the last 30 minutes.
Junior Katy Breland opened the scoring in the second stanza with an unassisted goal.
Muskingum tallied three goals cutting Hiram's lead to two (11-9).
Hiram and the Fighting Muskies would trade goals in the following minutes as Hiram's lead grew to three (15-12) with Leuma and Hall adding two goals apiece.
Muskingum's Sara Woods would post their last goal of the game (15-13) with the 7:16 remaining in the frame.
The Terriers would add five goals inside the last five minutes to cement their 20-13 win.
Hiram outshot the Fighting Muskies 38-28, adding 21 groundballs, and forcing 10 caused turnovers.
Hiram will return to the field on Friday, March 6 as they take on Alma. The matchup is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
