BEAVER FALLS, Pennsylvania - April 25, 2026 - Hiram women's lacrosse delivered an energetic start on the road Saturday evening, highlighted by a hat trick from
Janelle Steiner, but ultimately fell to Geneva College, 12-5.
Hiram came out with intensity like no other in the opening half, putting together one of its most electric stretches of the season. The Terriers struck first midway through the opening quarter when
Riley France finished a feed from
Kasey Kelhoffer to give Hiram a 1-0 lead.
The momentum carried into the second quarter as
Ilyana Sterrett added an unassisted goal at the 12:33 mark, extending the Terriers' lead to 2-0. Hiram's defensive pressure and energy in transition kept Geneva off the scoreboard through much of the first half, showcasing a fast-paced and confident start on both ends of the field.
The Terriers answered again in the third quarter behind Steiner, who took offensive control. The junior midfielder netted back-to-back goals just 31 seconds apart to make it a 5-4 game in favor of Geneva.
Despite Hiram's strong push, Geneva scored a late third-quarter goal to gain some separation and then pulled away in the fourth, scoring six times to secure the conference victory.
Steiner led the Terriers with three goals, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers in a standout all-around performance. Sterrett added a goal and a team-high five ground balls, while France contributed a goal and Kelhoffer recorded an assist. Goalkeeper
Emma Fox made five saves over 60 minutes in net.
Although the final score did not reflect it, the Terriers' electric first and second quarters and Steiner's offensive performance highlighted continued growth within the team as they wrap up their first season since officially returning to competition.
