HIRAM, Ohio - January 5, 2020 – Sherman Cox scored a career-high 12 points, but Hiram men's basketball fell to the Wabash College Little Giants, 80-68 on Sunday at Price Gymnasium.

The Little Giants opened the first half on a 7-0 run, and took a 10-2 on Connor Rotterman's and-one with just over 17 minutes to play.

The Terriers cut the deficit down to just two, 10-8, on Antonio McQueen's layup with 15:32 left in the first half, but Wabash answered with a 13-2 run over the next 5:19 to take a 13-point lead, their largest of the first half.

Neither team scored over the next two minutes before Hiram began to cut into the Little Giants' lead. With a jumper by Tyler McMillion and a three by Kevin Beans Jr., the Terriers made it a seven-point game with just over seven minutes left in the half.

Jack Davidson's three-pointer brought Wabash's lead back out to 10, and Rotterman made it an 11-point game following two free throws from Sherman Dean III. Hiram and Wabash again traded buckets, before the Terriers made their run to close the deficit heading into the half.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Cox and Dean III cut Wabash's lead down to 33-28, before Cox made it a one-possession game, knocking down a jumper with 1:40 remaining in the first half. Cox then hit another three-pointer, his second of the game, to knot the score at 33 with under a minute left.

Alex Eberhard and Brodgie Gordon traded buckets to again tie the score at 35, but Tyler Watson hit a three to send the Little Giants into the half with a 38-35 lead.

Dean III led the Terriers in the first half with nine points, while Cox scored eight of his career-high 12, including two triples, also a career high.

Wabash though, held the Terriers scoreless for the first 2:22 of the second half, and used a 11-5 run to extend their lead to nine and force Hiram to take a timeout. But the Little Giants continued their run, extending their lead to its largest of the game, 17, with 10:13 left to play.

Hiram pulled within 12 with 8:04 to play, but they wouldn't get any closer till the final buzzer, as the Little Giants held off the Terriers to pick up the 80-68 victory.

With the loss, Hiram falls to 4-8 (1-4 NCAC), while the Little Giants move to 7-5 (3-2 NCAC) with the win.

Cox and Dean III each scored 12 points to lead the Terriers, while Gordon added 10 points and a team-high five assists. McQueen fell two points shy of a double-double, with eight points and a team-high 11 boards.

After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, Hiram couldn't find their touch in the second, shooting just 31.4 percent.

The Terriers next host the No. 3-ranked Wittenberg Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. at Price Gymnasium.
