Box Score 2 Mar.8-CLAREMONT, Calif.- The Hiram College softball team wrapped up the last day of their California trip dropping two games in their doubleheader matchup against Pomona-Pitzer, Friday afternoon.
In game one, against the Sagehens sophomore Mariah Sheffield scored the lone run. Along with Sheffield, the Terriers posted two additional hits in the matchup with Pomona-Pitzer including one
from Kaitlyn Saffel and one from Leah Valdez.
In game two, the Sagehens led the scoring attack early posting three runs in the opening inning.
Pomona-Pitzer would tack on two runs between the second and fourth inning to hold a 5-0 advantage.
The Terriers would respond in the fifth inning tallying three runs (5-3). The scoring included runs from freshman Giselle Chavez, Sheffield, and junior Nikki Budner.
The host would add one last run in the bottom of the sixth to guarantee the 6-3 win.
Hiram will return to Ohio competition on Thursday, March 14, as they take on Thiel at home. The doubleheader matchup with the Tomcats is scheduled for a 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. start.
