Box Score 2 April 5- WOOSTER, Ohio- The Hiram College softball team claimed a 4-2 game one victory over the Fighting Scots before dropping game two 6-2, Thursday afternoon.
The Terriers first run of the game was off a single from freshman Mariah Sheffield to score freshman Kaitlyn Hager.
The second and third innings were silent, with neither team posting a run in the respective frames.
Down by one, the Fighting Scots made their move in the top of the fourth inning scoring two runners to take a one-run advantage (2-1).
The Terriers tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning. Starting with a single from sophomore Shalynn Call bringing home Isabelle Miranda. Sheffield closed out the scoring by tallying two more RBIs off runs from Call and Hager securing the 4-2 Hiram victory.
Freshman Bailey Scheck tallied her second victory, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts, only allowing two runs.
In game two, Hiram was down by two in the bottom of the second, freshman Amanda Holzman hit a game-tying home run, bringing home Sheffield (2-2).
After a runless third inning, Wooster added four more runs in the remaining innings to secure the 6-2 win.
Hiram will host Heidelberg in a nonconference doubleheader matchup on Saturday, April 9. First pitches are set for 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
