Box Score 2 April 21- GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Hiram Terrier softball team suffered a pair of losses in the doubleheader matchup with Denison University, Saturday afternoon. Hiram fell 13-3 in game one, before dropping game two 22-1, in five innings.
In game one, both sides remained scoreless through the first three innings until Hiram got on the board with a single from
Giselle Bahena scoring
Mariah Sheffield.
The tides began to turn as the Big Red scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-1 lead.
The Terriers opened the top of the fifth inning with two additional runs with
Kaitlyn Hager collecting an RBI helping
Carmen West score off a sacrifice fly. The second run of the inning came when
Shalynn Call singled to left center bringing home
Isabelle Miranda to cut the Big Red lead down to 6-3.
Denison ended the game early adding seven more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the first game win with a score of 13-3.
In game two, Denison kept the scoring momentum going collecting four runs in the first inning. Hiram responded with a sacrifice from
Giselle Bahena to score the lone Terrier run from
Mariah Sheffield.
The Big Red held Hiram runless for the remaining frames before taking game two 22-1.
Hiram will be back in action on Sunday, April 22 as they return to Myrtis E. Herndon Field for a conference doubleheader against Kenyon College. First pitch for game one is set for 1:00 p.m.
