GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Hiram College softball team was fell in two games at DePauw (Ind.) in the NCAC opener for both squads on Saturday.
The Terriers are now 5-17 on the year and 0-2 in conference action, while the Tigers improve to 8-11, 2-0.
In Game 1, the Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead through three innings before Hiram got on the board in the fourth.
With the bases loaded, junior Brittany Zajac (Corry, Pa./Corry) reached on an error by the shortstop, allowing senior Jessica Wahl (Akron, Ohio/Ellet) to score.
The Tigers were able to put together a fifth inning rally to end the game due the NCAA's 8-run rule.
Senior Kali Stover (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) and Wahl each collected hits for the Terriers.
In the second game, the Tigers scored two in the fourth and added three runs in the sixth for a 5-0 victory.
Stover recorded the lone hit for Hiram.
Hiram will look to get back to its winning ways on Wednesday, April 6, at home against Penn State-Behrend at 3:30 p.m.
