Softball falls to Mount Saint Joseph and Muskingum in final two games of spring trip

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Hiram College softball team closed play at the Rebel Spring Games by falling to Mount Saint Joseph and Muskingum on Friday.

The Terriers conclude the trip with a 2-8 record.

Against Mount Saint Joseph (6-2), Hiram could not get the bats going falling 5-0.

Junior Meghan Garland (Mineral Ridge) hurled a complete game, giving up three earned runs and striking out three.

The Lions scored twice in the third, added a run in the sixth and scored two more times in the seventh for the victory.

Against Muskingum (5-5), sophomore Brittany Zajac (Corry, Pa.) recorded two hits and also struck out three batters on the mound.

The Fighting Muskies scored five runs in the second and added two more in the fifth to pick up the 7-0 win.

Hiram will now return home and will host non-conference foe Westminster (Pa.) in its home opener on Thursday. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
