HIRAM, OHIO -- Senior Andy Harding (Akron/Revere) scored first half two goals as the Hiram College men's soccer team topped Heidelberg ion a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Henry Field.
The Terriers improve to 5-1-0 on the season, while the Student Prices drop to 2-2-2.
Harding got Hiram out to a early lead, scoring twice in the first eight minutes of the contest.
His first goal came 6:11 into the match.
Junior Richie Webb (London, England/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) controlled a ball at the midfield and found Harding streaking to net. Harding beat a drawn out goalie to give HC the lead.
A minute and a half later, Harding found the back of the net again.
Junior Tanner Mathews (Alliance/Marlington) sent a free kick from deep in Hiram's territory to Harding who controlled it up the left sideline. Harding dribbled three times and beat the goalie to the lower right, making the score 2-0.
He now has a team leading five goals on the season.
Heidelberg had a chance to get on the board at the 16:01 mark, when Chris Kozcak fired a shot from inside the box. But junior goalie Matt Sacher (Akron/Coventry) made a diving stop to deny the goal.
Sacher finished with one save in the contest, while sophomore Chris Lindemeyer (Lodi/Cloverleaf) finished with two.
In the 28th miute, sophomre Zac Cairns sent a cross into the box that freshman Peterson Occilien (Columbia, S.C./Blytewood) buried in the back of the net, expanding the Terriers lead to 3-0.
The goal was the first of the season and career for Occilien.
The Student Princes responded with a goal of their own less than 30 seconds later to get on the board and cut HC's lead to 3-1.
In the second half, senior Ryan Kramarz made it 4-1 by getting the ball in space and dribbling around the goalie to find the back of the net.
It was the fourth goal of the season for Kramarz.
Cairns closed out the scoring, taking a cross from sophomore Neil Zook (Doylestown/Chippewa) and finding the back of the net at the 61:56 mark.
Hiram held a 13-6 edge in shots taken, including an 8-5 advantage on goal.
Hiram will return to action on Wednesday, when it hosts Otterbein in a non-conference contest at 7:30 p.m. The game will be played at the Hiram Soccer Complex.
