Hiram Falls to Franciscan But Stays Alive In PAC Tournament Race

Terriers Keep Tournament Hopes Alive Despite Falling 3-1 To Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – October 25, 2025-  The Hiram men's soccer team fell 3-1 against Franciscan University on Saturday afternoon, with the Barons coming out on top despite a late comeback attempt by the Terriers.

Despite this loss, the Terriers still sit with a chance to clinch a PAC Tournament berth in their first season back in the conference since 1988. Hiram currently sits tied for 7th place in the PAC standings, which puts them one place behind the spot that qualifies. Hiram currently has 11 PAC points, which puts them 2 points behind the 6th place teams (W&J and Geneva) in which it takes to qualify. With the loss on Saturday afternoon by W&J, the Terriers would need a win this upcoming Wednesday in order to have a chance at a PAC Tournament berth.

As for the game, the Barons jumped out to a lead early, scoring in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Barons added on two more before the first half ended, taking a 3-0 lead in the break.

The Terriers wouldn't go down without a fight.

Late in the second half, the Terriers would get a goal back, when Kamran Walton scored on an unassisted goal, which would begin the comeback attempt for the Terriers, which would fall short. It marked the first career goal for Walton.

Hiram men's soccer will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Chatham for a crucial PAC match, with the kickoff set for 6 p.m.
