Three first half goals propel Women's Soccer past Hilbert (N.Y.)

HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The Hiram College women's soccer team scored three first half en route a 3-0 victory at Hilbert (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers now stand at 3-2-0 on the season, while the Hawks drop to 2-2-0.

Sophomore Alison Cowell (Bridgeton, Mo./Duchesne) got HC on the board just 4:51 into the match, by taking a pass from sophomore Allie Glatt (Cincinnati/Seton) and beating the drawn out goalie.

In the 20th minute, Glatt made it 2-0 in favor of Hiram, scoring off of a restart. The goal was the team leading fourth of the season for Glatt.

Junior Samantha Fox (Lyndhurst/Brush) closed out the scoring at the 36:59 mark, taking a pass from junior Caitlin Elkins (Green) and scoring just below the crossbar.

Junior goalkeeper Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) and freshman goalie Alina Mille (Medina) combined to post a shutout. Reed picked up the win and moves to 3-2 on the season.

The Terriers held a 21-6 edge in shots taken in the match and took 10 on goal, compared to three for Hilbert.

HC also held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hiram will return to action on Wednesday, when it hosts John Carroll at 7:30 p.m. at Henry Field.
