Box Score HIRAM, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Allegheny (Pa.) College, 19-3, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in the home finale at Charles A. Henry Field on senior night.
Allegheny (9-5, 3-4 NCAC) scored the game's first nine goals with its first one coming at the 26:45 minute mark. Hiram (3-11, 0-7 NCAC) got on the board with 10:43 left in the first half when freshman Hannah Schaefer (Kent/Roosevelt) scored her first of two goals on the night to make the score 9-1. But the Gators tallied four more scores to end the half and take a commanding 13-1 advantage into the locker rooms.
In the second half, Allegheny found the back of the net to begin the period at the 28:07 mark to increase the margin to 14-1. The Terriers recorded their second goal with 25:33 left to play when freshman Allison Spitz (Hudson) scored with an assist from senior Kate Valaitis (Lewis Center/Olentangy) to make the score 14-2. The Gators added two more goals before Schaefer posted her second marker of the game with 14:56 left to play on a free-position shot making the score 16-3. Allegheny recorded the final three scores of the game to go on to the 19-3 final.
In net for Hiram, freshman Rebecca Greenhouse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Winchester Thurston) played the entire game and made 11 saves.
Hiram will conclude the 2013 season when it travels to Granville for a NCAC game against Denison University on Saturday, Apr. 27. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
