Hiram, Ohio – September 28, 2026 – Jay'l Diaz of football and Elaine Guyette of cross country were selected for this edition of Terriers of the Week. This comes after impressive performances by each student athlete which helped lead their team over the weekend. 

Diaz was all over the ball in Hiram's 32-19 victory over Thiel last Saturday, making his presence known on the defensive side of the ball. Diaz would finish with 6 total tackles, including 1.5 TFL's, both of which remained atop the team. Jay'l would also finish with a fumble recovery and an INT, accounting for two of Hiram's four turnovers forced at Saturday's game.  The freshman from Lorain, OH was everywhere for the Terrier defense on Saturday, also recording a pass breakup and a QB hit playing at both the line and in the secondary. Diaz and the rest of the Terrier football team will look to remain unbeaten in their next game, as they will welcome Saint Francis to Henry Field for the first matchup ever between the two schools.  

Elaine Guyette was outstanding in Hiram cross country's first 6K of the season, helping lead the team to a sixth-place finish against multiple opponents at the PAC Preview hosted by Youngstown State University. Guyette would finish first on her team, scoring first for the Terriers with a 26th place finish. Guyette finished with a time of 26:10, marking an impressive start to the season in Guyette's first 6K this year. The senior from Mantua, OH will look to continue the momentum of the PAC Preview into Hiram's next meet, when they will travel to Oberlin for their Inter-regional rumble on October 17.
