Hiram, Ohio – March 23, 2026- Nicolas Chernitsky of baseball and Yasmine Clark of softball have earned this week's edition of Terriers of the Week. This comes after impressive pitching performances by each student-athlete, which helped lead their team to victory while shutting down the opponent. Â
Nicolas Chernitsky posted his best start of the season this past Saturday in the team's conference opener against Thiel, working a career-high eight innings and allowing just one run in a winning effort while throwing 4 K's. Not only did Chernitsky earn his first victory of 2026, but he also didn't surrender an extra-base hit for the duration of the outing. The junior from Elyria, Ohio has already been off to an impressive start in his four outings, recording over 6 innings pitched in 3 games, while throwing 19 K's on the season. Chernitsky and the Hiram baseball team will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Allegheny College for a PAC conference matchup with first pitch at 1 p.m.Â
Clark earned the first two victories of a Division III career on Saturday against Saint Vincent, throwing a complete game in a 15-2 win in Game 1 and working four scoreless innings of relief in a 6-4 win in Game 2. Clark surrendered just two earned runs over nine innings of work in the circle that day, with the Bearcats only tallying seven hits against the right-hander. Clark leads the Hiram pitching staff in ERA (2.87) and innings pitched (39) this season, which marks the first with the Terriers (spent two seasons at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA). Clark and the Hiram softball team will return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Bethany College in a matchup with the Bison, with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m.Â
