HIRAM, Ohio - March 19, 2026 - Hiram winter sports have officially come to a close, with nine different teams finding plenty of memorable moments to look back on from this past season. Those teams include men's and women's basketball, men's ice hockey, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's swimming, as well as men's and women's wrestling.

The following article will recap those seasons as Hiram's official 2025-26 "Winter Sports Wrapup."

Men's Basketball

Hiram men's basketball capped off a 6-19 season with a dominating win over Allegheny College, 88-69 on Senior Day. The team started the season 3-0 as they found themselves champions of the Crossbar Alfred Classic with wins over Alfred State College and Lycoming College. The squad turned around and defeated Bluffton University, 70-67 on Nov. 15. The Terriers were eliminated from the conference tournament in their first year in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, but there were plenty of bright spots. Seven of the team's 14 conference losses were decided by ten points or less. On Jan. 10, the Terriers defeated Bethany College, 88-83, for their first PAC win. They shot an efficient 50% from the field and 56.3% from beyond the arc to take down the Bison.

Eight different student-athletes averaged at least 6.0 PPG, demonstrating the balance of the team's offense. Among leaders was sophomore Collin Jones, who averaged 13.1 PPG on 49.6% shooting and scored double figures in 19 out of 25 games played. He scored a career-high 25 points against Franciscan on Jan. 31 and followed that performance up with 24 points against Thiel on Feb. 4.

Junior DJ Niles averaged 8.3 PPG and led the team in rebounds per game at 5.7. Arguably his best game of the season was against Penn State Behrend on Jan. 3, as he recorded a career-high 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. The forward from Maple Heights, OH followed that performance up with two more consecutive double-doubles against Geneva on Jan. 7 and Bethany on Jan. 10. Niles also led the team in blocks with 34.  Senior sharpshooter Brock Makrancy was third on the team in scoring at 8.1 PPG. Makrancy led the team in three-point shooting as he shot 46.1% from three. In two seasons with the Terriers, the wing from Findlay, OH made 103 three-point field goals. His 46.4% career three-point percentage is best in program history.

The Terriers graduate four seniors; Manuel Devora Violan, Dushawn Hill, Josh Martin and Makrancy. Head coach Pierce Cumpstone will look to fill the shoes of these four seniors, who all played an impactful role on the court for the team this year. The team will return plenty of scoring opportunities heading into the 2026-27 season.

Women's Basketball

The Hiram women's basketball team found a great starting point in success in their return to the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Terriers finished with a 7-19 overall record and a 4-12 conference record. The team's first win of the season came against an impressive La Roche University team, 71-66, on Nov. 20. They followed that game up with their first PAC win against Thiel, 69-67, in overtime on Dec. 3. Perhaps their most impressive win of the season came over Geneva College, 85-74, on Jan. 7. The team shot an impressive 45.3% from the field and outrebounded the Golden Tornadoes, who led the PAC in rebounds during the regular season.

The Terriers saw great success from beyond the arc this season. They led the PAC in 3-point percentage (32.5%) and were third in total 3-pointers made (172). Their 172 made 3-pointers is also third best in program history. The team had three players all have 50+ makes for the first time in program history: Sarah Seaman (56), Advika Srinivasan (55), and Isabella Caceres (52).

Seaman led the team in scoring at 16.1 PPG which was good enough for fourth place in the conference during the regular season. The senior guard had 21 games of double-digit scoring and eight games of 20+ points. On Feb. 18, she posted a career-high 30 points on 61% shooting. Her six made 3-pointers in that game was also a career-high. Isabella Caceres had a balanced year in her second year as a Terrier. The point guard from Cypress, CA averaged 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Her best performance of the year came on Dec. 20, when she set a program record for points in a game (43) and 3-pointers made in a game (11). Caceres was crucial for the Terriers as she ranked 10th in all of Division III in minutes played (38.5 per game). She recorded a career-high 12 assists against Penn State Behrend on Jan. 31 and followed that up with 10 assists against Heidelberg on Jan. 3.

Sophomore Maya Joiner did it all for the Terriers this season. Joiner nearly averaged a double-double with 9.6 points on 51.5% shooting and 10.8 rebounds. The forward from Canton, MI also led the team in steals (53) and blocked shots (41). She recorded eight double-doubles including 20 points, 18 rebounds, 7 blocks, and 5 steals against Thiel on Dec. 3. She recorded a career-high 19 rebounds against Westminster on Jan. 14.

Hiram will look to continue to build off a good start in the PAC moving forward. The team finished just shy of making the conference tournament. The Terriers will graduate Seaman and Srinivasan, two key offensive players for the team, but they return a solid core of young players who will look to make an impact next season.

Men's Ice Hockey

Hiram finished their inaugural season with a record of 1-20-1, but had plenty of individual and team accomplishments to build upon as the team moves forward into their second season in 2026-27.

On defense, the Terriers had four different players finishing the season with 20+ blocks, with Harrison Flaacke leading the team in blocks with 29.

Paired with his five goals in the season, Anthony Arthurs also put up four assists, giving him team-highs in both assists (four) and points (nine).

Among the team's notable results were a win over MCLA in the second home game of the season, as well as a shootout win over Beloit on Nov. 15. The team also hung with a talented Chatham team on Jan. 16 and narrowly lost to Concordia Wisconsin on Feb. 8. The team also grabbed a few ACHA wins over Cincinnati and Misericordia.

Hiram will now shift its attention to 2026-27, where it will return to The Pond in Chagrin Falls, OH and look to make even bigger strides for a fast-developing program.

The duo tied for the team lead with 21 wins apiece, which included 12 pins from Lorenzon and 11 pins from Williams. Both student-athletes also earned a pair of victories at regionals to cap off the year.

While Hiram didn't defend its AMCC title, it still placed second as a team behind the efforts of the rest of its roster, too.
