Hiram Wraps Up Regular Season At JCU Open

Terriers Feature 4 Wrestlers On Sunday

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - February 1, 2026 - Hiram women's wrestling had four student-athletes compete in the JCU Open on Sunday, which marked the final tuneup for the team ahead of the AMCC Championships this Saturday.

Participating in the event was DeJonae Rivers and Kretina Rai in the 131-lb weight class, as well as Alazhandra Williams (180 lbs) and Emily Lorenzon (207 lbs). Lorenzon led the charge by earning a pair of wins and placing third, while Williams won three times and placed fifth in her bracket.

Rivers' day was highlighted by a win over her teammate, Rai, in the consolation bracket of the 131-lb class. Rivers pulled out the win by fall (2:42) and finished in eighth place.

Williams bounced back from an early loss by beating Waynesburg's Rylie Alexander by fall (0:36). The first-year from Honolulu, HI then beat Heidelberg's Adisyn Kramer by fall (0:16) and won the fifth-place match against Alfred State's Madi Cox by fall (0:54).

Lorenzon continued to pile up her tally of pins by winning against Bethany's Zsuzsana Bourassa by fall (0:45), advancing her to the third-place match against Waynesburg's Ja'Khia Matthews, who had already beaten Lorenzon in the first round of the bracket. The first-year responded in a big way, beating Matthews by technical fall (10-0) to earn a strong finish ahead of the postseason.

Hiram will now prepare for the AMCC Championships on Saturday at 10 a.m.; the event will be held on the Alfred State in Alfred, NY.
