HIRAM, Ohio – August 27, 2025 – Hiram Athletics is entering an exciting transition, as it gets set for its first full-time season of competition in the Presidents' Athletic Conference since 1988-89.

With that excitement also comes a series of new hires, as the Terriers welcomed three new assistant coaches to their women's lacrosse, men's wrestling and baseball programs. Kaylee Szekeres (women's lacrosse), Ryan Kirst (men's wrestling) and Mark Mohnickey (baseball) all arrived on campus earlier this month in preparation for a busy 2025-26 season.

Kaylee Szekeres | Women's Lacrosse

Szekeres previously attended Cranford High School (Cranford, NJ) and Kean University (Division III | Union, NJ), where she was a member of the women's lacrosse team for four years. During her tenure with the Cougars, the team won 25 games, which included an impressive 9-8 record in 2024.

Also during her time at Kean, Szekeres was a two-year IMPACT campus leader, a member of the Kean Sports Business Club and a three-year member of the student-athlete leadership program. Szekeres also was a coach at the youth club level for DEWLAX.

Ryan Kirst | Men's Wrestling

Kirst had previous coaching stints with Ashland University (2015-2021), Heidelberg University (2013), Lake Erie College (2011), Cleveland State University (club team, 2010-2012), Bay High School (2010-2011), St. Edward High School (2007-2010) and Ashland Crestview High School (2006-2007).

As a wrestler himself, Kirst was a four-time NCAA Division II national qualifier at Ashland University (Division II | Ashland, OH). One of the winningest grapplers in program history (116 career wins), Kirst also earned D-II All-American honors at 197 lbs.

Mark Mohnickey | Baseball

Mohnickey previously attended St. Edward High School (Lakewood, OH), Toledo University (Division I | Toledo, OH) and Baldwin Wallace University (Division III | Berea, OH), where he gained extensive playing experience and the tools to become a collegiate coach.

During his playing career at the University of Toledo (2018-2020), Mohnickey played in 33 games as a true freshman and racked up multi-hit games against Ohio State, Miami (OH) and Purdue Fort Wayne. Additionally, during his time at Baldwin Wallace University (2021-2024), Mohnickey was the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament MVP winner as well as a two-time D-III World Series catcher.

Mohnickey also coached at Baldwin Wallace University for the 2024-2025 season, where he helped the Yellow Jackets to a 32-15 record, an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and a D-III Regional Appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Kirst and the men's wrestling program begin competition on November 1 at the Mount Union Invitational, while Szekeres (women's lacrosse) and Mohnickey (baseball) will both begin their respective seasons in the spring.
