ALLIANCE, Ohio - May 15, 2025 - Hiram wrapped up the 2025 outdoor season on a high note, as a spring filled with personal records, program records and plenty more to be proud of officially came to a close at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet on Thursday at Kehres Stadium.
Kylie Moser put herself in the conversation for All-Region honors as part of the heptathlon, Sam Volpe beat her own program record in the shot put and Gavin Dunn neared his program record in the long jump to highlight one final trip to the University of Mount Union.
Men's Recap
Dunn was the lone male student-athlete to compete on Thursday, with the "Last Chance" meet marking the freshman's final opportunity to gain some ground on the national leaderboard for the long jump. Entering competition on Thursday, Dunn was tied for 22nd in Division III with his program-record mark of 7.24m (23'9") from the Sparky Adams Invitational earlier this spring; the top-20 student-athletes in the country advance to the NCAA Championships for that particular event.
Dunn put forth a strong effort, placing second in the event with a mark of 7.12m (23'4.5"). He trailed only Otterbein's Richmond Honkpo (7.19m), and will now have to wait over the next week to see if he will be making the trip to the NCAA Championships following one of the most historic freshman seasons in the history of the program.
Women's Recap
Alisah Ward spearheaded the women's team with action in both the 200-meter dash (26.83) and 400-meter dash (59.84). Both of those marks were new personal bests for the breakout star from Conway, AR, who also came within one second of the Hiram women's record for both events.
Trezure Bates also capped off her second season by qualifying for the 100-meter hurdle finals, while McKenzie Riley returned to the track one last time for 2024-25 with the 800-meter run.
Kylie Moser moved into fifth place in the regional standings with a career-best mark of 3,878 points in the heptathlon, which marked her second ever appearance in the event. Although there are still a few days left of competition across Division III, Moser is currently in position to be an All-Region selection, which is awarded to the top-five student-athletes for that event. In the overall standings for the event, Moser placed third after entering the final event (800-meter run) in seventh place – her time of 2:26.10 ranked second in the field of nine student-athletes.
In the field events, the group of Chloe Cooper, Addison Disman, Sam Volpe and Rylie Petroff all got experience across competition on Wednesday and Thursday. Volpe notably beat her program record in the shot put (12.07m, 39'7.25") to put the finishing touches on a sophomore season that set even more records than her first year.
What's Next
Hiram men's and women's track & field will take the summer off before returning to campus in the fall, when they will train and prepare for the program's return to the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
