HIRAM, Ohio – November 18, 2025 – Hiram women's volleyball took down seven different awards as part of the All-PAC awards show on Tuesday night, capping off a historic season that saw the team win its most matches since 2012 and advance to its first conference tournament championship game since 2018.

Setter Kelly Hoffman was named PAC Player of the Year and head coach Macy Roell was named PAC Coach of the Year, giving the Terriers half of the major award winners in the conference. Hoffman is the fifth student-athlete in program history to win a player of the year award, joining Marissa Jay (2016), Shaina Bryan (2010), Michelle Kozempa (2006) and Shana Toth (2005). Roell is the second head coach to earn a coach of the year award, joining Ellen Dempsey (2001, 2003, 2005, 2009).

In addition, Hoffman and Sofia Smotek earned All-PAC First Team honors, while Megan Chiang and Brooke Fishback earned a spot on the All-PAC Second Team. Maggie Riley rounded out the awards by earning All-PAC Honorable Mention. The 2025 season also marks the sixth instance in program history in which the program featured multiple all-conference first team selections (also in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2014).

Hoffman finished the year with a PAC-leading 1,070 assists (10.09 assists/set) and 503 digs, lifting her team to some of the best offensive and defensive numbers in the conference. She also was a four-time PAC Player of the Week (two offensive, two defensive) and a member of the PAC All-Tournament Team; her career-high 59 assists in the PAC semifinals against Westminster helped propel her team to the championship match this past Saturday.

Smotek posted one of the greatest freshman seasons in the history of the program, ranking second in the PAC with 407 kills (3.84 kills/set), which also is tied for the ninth-most kills in a single season in Hiram history. The Independence, OH native had double-digit kills in 26 of her 29 matches played, while also ranking third on the roster with 381 digs. Smotek had one of the most dominant matches by any student-athlete this season on Sept. 27, when she had a .455 attack percentage (16 kills, one attack error) over a three-set win over Saint Vincent. Also included on Smotek's remarkable resume were three different PAC Newcomer of the Week awards (Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Oct. 13).

Chiang also had a freshman campaign for the record books, tallying 284 kills (3.34 kills/set), 35 aces and 324 digs. The Markham, Ontario native also had the most kills in a single match by any Terriers player this season, tallying 27 kills in a five-set win over Allegheny on Oct 22; only two players in program history have recorded more kills in a single match (Marissa Jay 34, Marissa Jay 32 and Kiara Franks 28). She also was the PAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 and the PAC Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 27.

Similar to Hoffman, Fishback did a little bit of everything in her final season with the program, joining her teammate as two of the four student-athletes in program history to eclipse 1,000 assists and 1,000 digs (Megan Taylor, Charity Norman). The Aurora, OH native had a team-high 531 digs (5.16 digs/set) and 39 services aces, anchoring the team as the starting libero in 28 matches throughout the fall. Fishback also had 64 digs in three PAC Tournament matches, which helped her earn PAC All-Tournament Team honors.

Riley finished off the evening of award winners by landing All-PAC Honorable Mention, a significant award for a student-athlete who thrived in her first NCAA season following two successful seasons at Lorain County Community College. The junior from Elyria, OH was the X-factor in the PAC Tournament, recording the most kills on the team over the course of the quarterfinals (21 kills vs Saint Vincent) and semifinals (17 kills vs Westminster). She did a little bit of everything this past season, ranking second on the roster with 301 kills (2.84 kills/set), while also finishing with the second-most aces (38), fourth-most digs (334) and third-most blocks (32).

These five student-athletes were spearheaded by Roell, who tied the program record for the most wins by a first-year head coach in program history (26, tied with Scott Carter in 2012). An assistant coach with the program in 2024, Roell took a big step forward in 2025 and led Hiram to a 9-1 record in non-conference play, 15-1 record in PAC play (most conference wins all-time) and two winning streaks of at least 10 games (10 straight and 14 straight). While the team finished one win shy of what would've been its first conference title since 2006, Roell did a spectacular job in leading the most consistent team in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Hiram women's volleyball will now turn the page to 2026, where it will look to lift that PAC title inside Price Gymnasium.
