TIFFIN, Ohio - November 1, 2025 - Hiram women's wrestling opened the 2025-26 season at the Tiffin Open on Saturday afternoon, a chance for eight different student-athletes to make their collegiate debuts and get the winter season started on the right foot.

Emrie Fink (145 lbs), Leighna Prater (145 lbs) and Alma Morales (160 lbs) spearheaded the charge for the team, with each wrestler picking up their first two career wins during the event.

Morales advanced the furthest among any student-athlete on the team, winning by fall on two different occasions to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. She beat Georgetown's Brilynn Gemmer by fall (4:19) and Indiana Tech's Amelia Collins by fall (2:46) before losing in the quarterfinals to Mount Union's Emma Hanrahan by fall (1:28).

Prater advanced to the second round thanks to beating Rochester Christian by fall (1:58) in the 145-lb bracket. She eventually also picked up a win by decision over Mount Union's Ebonie Harding and finished the day with a 2-2 record.

Fink also had a 2-2 record, winning by fall over Indiana Tech's Tasia Smith and by technical fall (10-0) over Rochester Christian's Megan Malnyk. Fink was the official winner in the consolation bracket for her weight class.

Also picking up wins on the day were Katie Harshbarger (160 lbs) and Alazhandra Williams (180 lbs). Williams won in overtime over the University of the Cumberlands to highlight a strong finish for the Terriers.

Hiram will return to the mats next weekend for both the Adrian Duals on Saturday and the Adrian Invitational on Sunday.
