HIRAM, Ohio – October 28, 2025 – Hiram fall sports are entering their final stretch, as teams are excelling in their respective sports. In fact, the Terriers did not lose a single home event for the entire month of September and have extended that momentum into October.
Men's Soccer
For men's soccer, it has been a well-balanced diet of attack and defense that has led to their impressive season, making them a contender for the PAC Tournament. The Terriers have a well-balanced attack, with Alex Lineen leading the way in goals so far this year with six. Hiram also facilitates the ball well, with a quarter of their goals this season coming off of assists led by Jimmy Zeilmann, who has seven assists. Finally, the goalkeeping has been stout as Derek Ufholz has transitioned to a full-time starter and has been outstanding, recording 51 saves and only allowing 16 goals. Hiram men's soccer will round out the regular season this Wednesday, when they host Chatham.
Women's Soccer
On the women's side, the team enters its final match of the season having already won its most games in a season since the 2015 season. Bella Simmons has put herself in great position to earn all-conference honors for the third year in a row, tallying team-highs in goals (five), points (11) and game-winning goals (three). Senior Olivia Kraft has also made her presence felt in her fifth season with the program, posting a career-high three goals and logging 13 matches of action after missing most of the 2024 campaign due to injury. Goalkeeper Madie Kennedy is also in contention for an all-conference spot, ranking fifth in the conference with 83 saves, which includes a career-high 11 saves against both Oberlin and Waynesburg.
Cross Country
Cross Country has also built momentum throughout the fall, recording four meets and plenty of personal bests to start the season. On the women's side, the Terriers are led by Elaine Guyette, who has finished first for the Terriers in three meets, and is currently sitting 18th in the PAC, which puts her in contention for an all-conference award. Following Guyette is the first-year MacKenzie Norton, who has already made an impact for the Terriers and looks to carry the momentum into the next meet. On the men's side, it has been a plethora of Terriers to help lead the way, but Cayden Jones has assumed that role and has been impressive in his sophomore year. Following him, Tanner Markley has had a fast start to the season and looks to improve it in the upcoming weeks. Hiram cross country will be back in action this Saturday, when they take part in the PAC Championships in Meadville, PA.
Football
With a 3-4 record, Hiram has already won its most games in a season since 2016, while also having a chance to post a .500-or-better record for the first time since 2014. The Terriers have been full of firepower this season, particular in terms of their passing offense, which ranks fourth in all of Division III with 371.6 yards per game. Sean Tejeda has been the full-time quarterback for that unit and has already set the single-season program records for passing yards (2,390) and passing touchdowns (20). Among the team's other primary playmakers are wide receiver Kevin Dycks (630 receiving yards), wide receiver Jordan Stapleton (614 receiving yards) and running back Isaiah Livingstone (3 rushing TD). On defense, Kole Tarary is on pace to lead the Terriers in tackles for the second straight season, which also could put him in line to add another all-conference award to his resume. The Terriers have beaten Oberlin, Saint Vincent and Bethany up to this point in the fall, with the team's remaining schedule including Thiel this upcoming Saturday, as well as Westminster (11/8) and Grove City (11/15).
Women's Volleyball
Women's volleyball has been dominant, stringing together two separate win streaks of at least eight games and catapulting to the first place position in the PAC North Division. The team has been thriving within the new conference this season, reaching the top of the leaderboards in multiple statistical categories, including kills, assists, points and digs. Hiram was picked fourth in the north division for the PAC preseason poll and now is at least two games ahead of every other team in the conference, which puts them in position to host every game in the PAC Tournament. The Terriers are also 8-0 on their home court this season; the last time the team had a perfect home record was in 2018 (9-0) It also has been a year for milestones, with senior Brooke Fishback reaching 1,000 career digs and senior Kelly Hoffman reaching 1,000 career assists over the last two months.
Taking a deep dive into the team, there's also a lot of new faces putting up impressive numbers. First-year Sofia Smotek has been a three-time PAC Newcomer of the Week and currently ranks second in the conference in kills (308). First-year Megan Chiang has been effective, too, winning PAC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15) and PAC Newcomer of the Week (Oct. 27), while totaling the fourth-most kills in the conference (275) and 10th-most digs (298). Junior Maggie Riley, who also is in her first season with the Terriers program, ranks third on the team with 205 kills after previously earning PAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22. Hiram will be seeking to win a conference tournament championship for the first time since 2006, while also hoping to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.
Men's & Women's Golf
Hiram men's and women's golf wrapped up their fall slate earlier this month, with the men's team placing 10th at the PAC Fall Championships and the women featuring three individual golfers at that same event. Robert Morgan had the lowest score on the men's team to cap off the season at the Cleveland Cup, while Ian Muka ranked among the best on the team over the course of their six events this past fall. On the women's side, Kayla Weisenberger posted the lowest scores on the team for the entirety of the fall campaign.
