Hiram Beats Maine Maritime At Warrior Duals

Terriers Go 1-2 To Start Weekend In Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Indiana - January 24, 2025 – Hiram College women's wrestling faced a competitive first day at the Warrior Duals, taking on Maine Maritime Academy, Life University and Lindsey Wilson College. The Terriers started strong with a 19-15 victory over Maine Maritime but fell in the following duals against Life and Lindsey Wilson.

Hiram began the day with a narrow win over Maine Maritime, highlighted by strong performances across multiple weight classes.

Freshman Emma Bowers picked up a win via forfeit at 110 lbs and junior Mallory Chunat earned a victory at 138 lbs after her opponent was forced to default due to injury.

Junior Allydia Byard delivered the most dominant performance of the dual, pinning Cecilia Edwards in just 19 seconds at 160 lbs. Byard's junior teammate, Erika Novak, capped off the win with a 10-0 win by technical fall over Isabelle Thesing at 180 lbs, sealing the victory for the Terriers.

The competition intensified in the following matches.

Hiram fell 48-0 to Life University, with Byard and Novak both suffering technical fall losses.

In its final dual of the day, Hiram faced Lindsey Wilson College, falling 49-0.

Novak put up a valiant fight, but was pinned late in her final bout after 5:52 had elapsed.

The Terriers will look to bounce back as they return to the mats on Saturday for the Warrior Open on the campus of Indiana Tech.
