TIFFIN, Ohio - February 10, 2024 - The Hiram indoor track teams continued to make progress in the early stages of the season, with both the men's team and women's team finding their way to multiple PRs as part of the Tiffin Open on Saturday.
Men's Recap
In the 200-meter dash, Jacob Mancini, Jacob Pino and Maclane Roe all posted new personal bests, with Mancini (25.01) having the top time among Hiram student-athletes. Mancini would return with a 57.58 in the 400-meter race.
In the mile run, freshman Nathan Cooper set a new PR with a mark of 5:01.16.Â
The field events were just as successful for the Terriers, with Tucker Marmash posting a 6.16m mark in the long jump (over 20 feet), the first time he has accomplished that feat. Christian Berish and Damian Concklin finished the day with PRs in the shot put.
Women's Recap
The records continued to fall on the women's side, with Makyndree Smith (9.65) and Trezure Bates (9.66) both beating the previous school record in the 60-meter hurdles. The two student-athletes shined in a field that included talented Division II and Division III competition.
Janiya Robinson set a new personal record in the 200-meter dash (31.30), while Samantha Moody did the same in the 60-meter dash (10.89).
Kelsey Downs wrapped up the day with a big outing – and another personal best mark – in the long jump.
What's Next
Both teams will return to competition on Saturday, when they travel to Alliance, Ohio for the Mount Union Tune-Up.
