HIRAM, Ohio – December 17, 2022 – The Terriers women's wrestling team welcomed in the holiday break with its 1
st home meet of the season and 2
nd event inside Price Gymnasium in program history (also vs Elmira last season).
Hiram lost to Lourdes University (34-10), Indiana Tech (35-5) and Siena Heights (39-5), but had a number of standout performances on the evening.
The four teams competed in five matches on Saturday, with Indiana Tech also beating both Siena Heights (24-18) and Lourdes (25-11).
Kylee Bentley pushed Lourdes' Marisol Romo to the limit at 109 lbs before losing by fall (4:48).
Kenedi Keesey also kept it close before losing by fall (1:53) to Maria Hoffman at 123 lbs.
Bethany Smith (TF, 10-0) and
Erika Novak (Fall, 1:10) worked hard in their losses at 130 lbs and 136 lbs respectively.
Keesey would later have a tough match against Indiana Tech's Zoe Van Riel, losing by fall (2:15). Smith (Fall, 2:05), Novak (Fall, 1:05) and
Allydia Byard (Fall, 5:47) also lost by fall in the team's second dual of the night.
It was a busy day for Keesey and Smith, who finished with 7 combined matches against the three teams. Smith also won an exhibition match against Lourdes (TF 12-1) before losing by fall (1:51) to Siena Heights' Mallory Chunat.
Hiram's next event will come in Elmira, New York, when the team takes on Elmira College and Ferrum College beginning at 1 p.m.
